DRUG TASK FORCE SWEEPS THROUGH DELAWARE COUNTY

(DELAWARE COUNTY, OH) July 6, 2010- Fewer drug dealers are on the streets after a sweep by the L.E.A.P. Drug Task Force. Today, in Operation Street Freedom 2010, twenty four arrest warrants were executed. The charges range from possession of drug paraphernalia to trafficking in narcotics.

Among the suspects, Michael Marcum of Sunbury was arrested on five counts of trafficking in heroin. Sheriff Walter L. Davis III said: “We take a proactive and aggressive approach to keeping drugs and the criminals who sell them out of our community.” Davis continued: “The round-up today was a great success with 24 arrests and we are not finished. The Drug Task Force works everyday to reduce the availability of drugs one dealer at a time.”

Sheriff Davis said, “Every drug dealer is a threat to our children and our community. That’s why this office will not consider reducing the manpower used to fight this war on crime.”

The Delaware County L.E.A.P. (Law Enforcement Against Pushers) Drug Task Force operates under the authority of the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office. The following agencies participated in today’s round-up: Delaware County Sheriff’s Office, Delaware Police, Sunbury Police, Westerville Police, the Delaware County Prosecutor’s Office, Delaware County Juvenile Court and Adult Court Services.
