SHERIFF INCREASES PATROLS, ENCOURAGES SAFE DRIVING

(DELAWARE COUNTY, OH) July 13, 2010- The Delaware County Sheriff’s Office will continue its High Visibility traffic blitz, focusing on drunk drivers and motorists who violate the speed limit. The move comes after a busy and safe July 4th weekend.

Sheriff Walter L. Davis III said: “We’re thankful there were no lives lost on the roads in our community during such a busy weekend. We want to encourage drivers to keep using their best practices every single time they get behind the wheel.”

Grant funding secured by the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office allows deputies to work overtime, providing more patrols on major roadways. “High-visibility enforcement is an effective way to encourage safe driving practices,” Sheriff Davis said. “Reducing speed, staying sober and wearing seat belts reduce the chances of serious injury in a crash.”
